Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Draft & Publish Details — Best Practices
Log in to your Blogsitefy dashboard.
From the left panel, click on the Posts menu.
Choose how to start:
- Click the Add Post button (the card with a cross), + Create New Post in the upper right, or edit an existing post by clicking its title.
This opens the Post Editor.
After you’re inside the Post Editor, click the Publish button at the upper right corner.
In the Publish Post panel, set these details:
- Categories: Type or select categories for your post.
- Author: Assign the author from the dropdown.
- Featured Image: Click + Add featured image to upload from your computer or select from Unsplash.
Optionally, check Make 1st image from editor as featured image.
Featured Image Prompt:
Always add a featured image for every post — Blogsitefy uses it on your homepage and for social media previews.
- Post URL: Customize the URL slug if desired.
This is the end of your post’s URL — for example:
myblogsitefy.com/blog/posts/pumpkin-pie-recipe
Use short, clear words separated by dashes.
Remove unnecessary words (like the, and).
You can edit this on each post or page — just avoid changing it later unless absolutely needed.
- Publish Date: Pick when your post should go live.
- Excerpt: Enter a 1–2 sentence summary (for blog and preview display).

Step 2: Tags, Table of Contents and Gated Content Restriction
In the Publish Post panel, go to Advanced to optimize your post’s organization and discoverability:
- Tags: Type tags separated by commas and press Enter.
Add 3–5 relevant tags (specific details) for better search and structure.
Tip: Don’t use the exact same tag as the category. Avoid too many tags—focus on relevance and clarity. - Enable Table of Contents:
Turn this on for longer posts to help both readers, Google and AI search tools understand your page structure (this enables/disables the table of contents just for this post). - Enable Content Restriction:
If you’ve activated this in your Apps settings, toggle here to enable or disable content restriction for this post (based on your Gated Content App configuration).
When enabled, you can also set the Visible Percentage for your content.
Every post should include:
- One main Category (the broad topic)
- 3–5 Tags (specific details)
Well-managed categories and tags help Google and AI understand your site and make it easier for readers to find related posts.

Step 3: Images and ALT Texts
Each image you upload should have ALT text — a brief description that explains what the image shows.
ALT text helps visitors using screen readers, and also helps your images rank in Google Image Search.
Example:
For a cake photo, your ALT text could be:
“Chocolate cake with strawberries on top.”

Google Docs - Add/Edit Image Alt Text
Adding descriptive alt text to an image in Google Docs for improved accessibility.

Blogsitefy Post Editor - Add Image with Alt Text
Setting the alt text while uploading a new image using Blogsitefy's built-in Post Editor.

Blogsitefy Post Editor - Update Alt Text
Editing or updating the image alt text for better SEO and accessibility directly in the Blogsitefy Post Editor.
Step 4: Internal and External Link-Building Guidelines
Good SEO includes linking between your posts (internal links) and to credible outside resources (external links).
Adding Links in Blogsitefy:
- Select the text you want to link (e.g., Baking Basics Guide, Serious Eats' recommended pancake syrups)
- Use the link button in the editor toolbar or press the link icon
Internal Links:
- Encourage readers to explore more of your content
- Example: "...check out our Baking Basics Guide" or "...revisit our recent Banana Waffle Recipe"
External Links:
- Add credibility and extra value, but use them sparingly
- Always set these to open in a new tab (toggle "Open in new tab" in the link dialog)
- Optionally, add "nofollow" to link (toggle "Add 'nofollow' to link")
Best Practice Tip:
Use descriptive link text — instead of "click here," use something meaningful like Easy Bread Recipe or Serious Eats' recommended pancake syrups.
This approach helps both readers understand where they're going and search engines understand your content structure.

Final Tip:
Great SEO is all about being clear, helpful, and human-friendly.
Fill in each field thoughtfully, use keywords naturally, and focus on making your content easy to understand. Over time, your blog will naturally rise in search rankings.
